Ultimate Provence Rosé Brand Positioning Strategy Case Study

Standing out in the crowded Provence rosé market is notoriously difficult. Indeed, brands frequently find themselves chasing the coat-tails of established giants like Whispering Angel. This is a common struggle in the highly competitive global wine trade, as frequently noted by The Drinks Business.

Consequently, when MDCV Group approached YesMore, they faced a complex strategic challenge. They already possessed a stunning bottle, a logo, and a beautiful brand name. Furthermore, they owned a magnificent four-star boutique hotel in the heart of Provence. However, their beautiful assets lacked a compelling backstory, meaning there was no clear raison d'être behind the physical brand. Therefore, they hired us to develop the strategic foundation for global expansion.

Differentiating Within a Crowded Luxury Portfolio

First, we had to solve the portfolio overlap. MDCV owns multiple vineyards and hotels in the Provence region. Therefore, simply calling it "another French rosé" would cannibalise their existing sales. To prevent this, we dug into the specific character of this specific estate.

Additionally, we analysed the wider rosé drinking audience in detail. This thorough analysis helped us identify the precise target audience we should aim for. Most importantly, we mapped this audience against the wider MDCV brand portfolio to ensure we reached new consumers. Next, our team established a firm belief system and a bold set of core values. Specifically, we defined the brand's purpose, personality, tone of voice, and global vision. This strategic foundation ensured complete alignment across every marketing touchpoint.

Defining the Strategic Backstory and "Why"

The physical elements of the brand were already in production. Indeed, MDCV had already designed the striking ribbed bottle, the sleek logo, and the name "ULTIMATE Provence." However, they lacked the crucial emotional narrative to connect with consumers.

Because of this, YesMore stepped in to build the brand's strategic "why." We crafted a rich, compelling backstory that brought the modern lifestyle of the estate to life. Additionally, we created robust image and design guidelines. These rules dictated how to hero the bottle and name, front and centre, across all visual communications. Consequently, MDCV could immediately increase name and bottle recognition in a crowded market. This strategic architecture transformed a beautiful physical product into a memorable, emotionally resonant global drinks brand positioning masterclass.

Designing a Global Activation Ecosystem

Defining the backstory was only the first step. Consequently, the real commercial test lay in the global rollout. We built a complete global beverage marketing strategy with a detailed channel ecosystem.

Most importantly, we created bespoke marketing toolkits for each territory to support local distributors. These kits contained professional sales sheets, local wine marketing guides, and strategic playbooks. Additionally, we designed a global PR strategy and specific social media strategies to communicate the new narrative. This robust ecosystem empowered local markets to tell the ULTIMATE Provence story consistently. Therefore, the brand could speak with one clear, authoritative voice across the entire globe.

Capturing the Spirit of Provence on Camera

Words alone cannot build a luxury lifestyle brand. Therefore, we produced a massive suite of high-end imagery and video content. We shot stunning hero key visuals in a controlled studio environment. Crucially, we followed our new design guidelines to place the iconic bottle and name front and centre.

On the other hand, we also needed to capture the vibrant lifestyle of the actual boutique hotel. Thus, we shot lifestyle photo and video content on-site using models and actors.

These premium assets supported the brand's website, social media, PR, and out-of-home (OOH) advertising. Most importantly, we went beyond our primary creative scope. We packaged all visual files with SEO-led names and rich metadata. As a result, search engines can easily index their beautiful imagery, driving organic discovery for years to come.

Realising the Ultimate Provence Vision

Ultimately, our strategic work delivered a spectacular brand evolution. MDCV successfully established ULTIMATE Provence as a globally recognised, luxury rosé brand. Because of our comprehensive brand strategy, the internal client team gained a crystal-clear backstory and personality.

This allowed them to communicate their unique positioning with total confidence. Furthermore, global distributors and regional suppliers now have the exact tools they need to drive sales. They are no longer simply selling a beautiful bottle. Instead, they are leading the category with a compelling reason to exist as the ultimate modern Provence rosé.
